Moontails: Aquarius New Moon Ritual + Recipe

I see a new moon rising! This Saturday (January 21, 2023), we have a new moon occurring in the sign of Aquarius that is also kicking off the lunar new year just as we’ve recently exited both Mars and Mercury Retrogrades.

Aquarius is known for its alternative perspectives and visionary approach to the world. While there is certainly plenty of fresh energy being ushered in with this new moon (happening at 1 degree in Aquarius is another sign of new beginnings), we’re still very much processing all the information that arose for us during the recent retrogrades.

This new moon invites us to plant seeds for our dreams and intentions with gentleness towards ourselves and our expectations. It’s beautiful to dream big and to believe in your ability to reach for those stars. It’s equally beautiful to honor the process of tending to and growing the seeds of intention you’re planting.

While Aquarius is an air sign, it’s also “the water bearer” which invites us to tap into our feelings and how we can allow them to guide and fuel the intentions. A very similar theme to the collective energy of The Chariot for 2023 that we’re exploring in The Crossroads this month.

Moving from Capricorn to Aquarius is a big invitation to release limitations - self-imposed or otherwise. So as your planting those seeds of intention, try to be a little more freeform like Aquarius. Think in bigger perspectives without specifics to allow room for growth and directions that you might not be able to see quite yet. Tap into those emotions and focus more on how you want to feel and heal through your intentions.

Of course, I had to get weird for our far out there and rebellious Aquarians. Drum roll please, your moontail for the Aquarius new moon - Berries, Beets, and Battlestar Galactica ‘Tini.

The Moontails also got a bit of a refresh, and you can now easily add them into your own spellbook, grimoire, or book of shadows. It includes themes, tarot and journal prompts, the moontail recipe, and more correspondences to help you work with the energy of the moon.
