3 Ways to Help Your Biz Coven Outside of Instagram
The spiritual community is full of ride or die groups that have formed friendships and deep connections. These biz covens within the community are BIG… B-I-G BIG on sharing one another’s content and love for one another in posts and stories. If you’re reading this, I bet you have your own RODs on the gram. If you do or if you just want to support some of your fave esoteric creators and businesses, here are a few ways you can do it with intention and impact.
There’s more to life than Instagram.
What’s that, you say? It’s true. There’s a whole wide world outside of Instagram, and I’m going to let you in on a few hot tips for how you can help your faves even more outside of that platform. Get ready. I’m about to blow your mind.
Did you know that 53% of website traffic comes from search (SEO) while only 5% of website traffic comes from social?! AND over 40% of revenue comes from organic traffic!? (Source) Shifting content and focus over to proprietary websites is going to do more for reach and income, so let’s take a look at a few different ways we can help each other outside of social.
#1 Show them you have their back with backlinks.
One of the many ways Google and other search engines determine if a site is legit and worthy of moving up the search ranking is something called backlinks. These links on other websites other than your own (or your faves’) that link back to your site. This form of support is especially helpful if you have a website and can throw up some links to your coven’s sites.
For example, I have links on my website that link back to my wholesale partners, people I’ve collaborated with, and podcasts I’ve appeared on. All of those links help those businesses and creators by increasing their SEO. Think about adding some of your favorites to a page or blog post with links back to their sites. Fresh content for you and a little SEO help for your faves.
#2 Double down on your content strategy by teaming up.
If you want to work together to support your fellow head witches, guest blog posts are a gift that keeps on giving. If you all are in community together, there’s a pretty strong chance that your content pillars are at least adjacent if not the same. This means that your topics generally make sense for each other’s sites and marketing strategy, and it’ll give a little diversity to your content. On either side of this collaboration, there are major benefits and you can even swap posts for an even bigger win-win sitch.
The other reason I love this tactic is that you can take this collaborative content and repurpose it! Take that one blog post, and:
Turn it into an email with a link back to the post.
Create social media posts with snippets of the information and a CTA to visit your website.
Amazing content for Pinterest (which is a search platform - not social - and we love that but more on that below).
Your collab partner can do the same and you’re doubling down on reach and effort.
#3 Speaking of Pinterest, get your coven together on this visual search platform.
So if you’re into the pretty visuals aspect of Instagram like I am, man oh man do I have a game changer to share with you. While I’m just starting to dip my toes into the waters over at Pinterest, I’ve put forth minimal effort (literally the most minuscule) and am already seeing 13X the reach that I do with Instagram. Imagine what can happen with an actual strategy and consistency. (P.S. Please don’t look at my mess of a Pinterest account for guidance on what to do. In its current state, it’s more of a lesson in what not do.)
The best thing about Pinterest is that people are going there with the intent of leaving the platform to visit websites. When people hop on Instagram and other social platforms, they’re visiting these spaces to be there, scrolling. It is infinitely harder to get people to leave and go to your site in these cases which is why we see those eye-opening stats above.
On the collaboration front for your coven, you can create group boards to add your pins to which can help a bit with impressions and ideally traffic. You can also re-pin one another’s pins to your own boards for a little boost. Heck, you could even create a pin or idea pin (kind of like an IG story) that highlights your favorite Tarot Readers or Astrologers or Witch Shops that ties back to a blog post with backlinks. All the support and love for your coven!
Another wonderful and recent change in the world of Pinterest is a shift in what they view as fresh pins (which help your reach). You can tie several different graphics to the same link or blog posts, and each new graphic is a new pin while you only had to create ONE piece of content. We love working smarter, not harder around here. This also gives you an opportunity to do a little A/B testing on what types of graphics perform better than others.
If you need a little design guidance for your pins, check out Creative Market and Canva for inspiration and templates. If you’re interested in a custom graphic set created just for you, let’s chat about how I can help!
