Virgo Full Moon Eclipse Guide
Full Moon in Virgo| Total Lunar Eclipse | March 3, 2026 | 12° Virgo
There is a lot of talk swirling around this eclipse about cleansing, and I'm going to be honest with you — I don't love it. Not because cleansing isn't real or useful, but because the way we apply it to Virgo almost always gets the energy completely wrong.
The wellness world has done a number on Virgo. It's turned this archetype into a kind of spiritual taskmaster — the one with the immaculate planner and a guilt spiral ready for when she falls short of it. That version of Virgo is exhausting, and she is not who we're working with here.
When purity shows up in genuine spiritual traditions, it doesn't mean untouched or spotless. It means getting back to the purest essence of a thing. For you, that looks like stripping away conditioning, external expectations, the unkind stories your ego tells you in its attempt to keep you safe — peeling back layer after layer until you reach the core of who you actually are, the path you actually want to walk, what truly matters at a deep soul level. It feels more like remembering than self-flagellation for not doing all the right things. It's about kicking shame and shoulda-woulda-couldas right to the curb where they belong.
This eclipse is going to help break some of those things down, or pull them up out of the dark so you can finally see clearly what you're being asked to release.
The Numerology of the Day
We get a beautiful gift in the numerology of 3/3/2026, which carries the essence of 7 — and more specifically, a big essence of 16/7.
The energy of 7 gives you the ability to see everything in a kind of reflective light. I love that for a full moon, which is itself all about reflection — the moon holding the light of the sun for us to see by. Seven reaches for depth. It wants to understand the interconnectedness of all things and will sit with a question for as long as it takes to find a real answer rather than a convenient one. 7 can be a little dreamy and untethered, which sits in some tension with Virgo's earthier nature — but that tension is actually useful. The 7 gives us the inner sight to understand ourselves at a deeper level. Virgo gives us the groundedness to do something with what we see.
The big essence — 16/7 — is where it gets really interesting. Yes, 16 is connected to The Tower in the Major Arcana. But the big essence only ever carries the beneficial qualities of a number, the highest expression we're being called toward. What we receive here is both discipline and discernment. The capacity to look clearly at ourselves and the world without flinching, and the steadiness to know what to do with what we find. And rest assured, with that Tower energy at play here, that there is this sense of divine disruption to clear our way forward.
This eclipse is going to shake things up. But the shaking that's coming carries real potential for healing — emotional, spiritual, and because this is a Virgo Moon, deeply embodied. We'll feel it in our bodies. We'll see it play out in the practical and material circumstances of our lives. The spiritual and the earthly are not separate here. Virgo insists on reminding us of that.
Five Journaling Prompts for the Eclipse
Set aside some quiet time around the full moon (before, during, or after) and let these questions do their work.
Where in my life have I been confusing perfectionism with care? What would it feel like to care just as much, but more gently?
What have I been carrying that actually belongs to someone else — a parent, a culture, an old version of me who needed different things?
If I stripped away every external measure of whether I'm doing it "right," what would I know to be true about myself and my path?
Where in my body do I feel the difference between pushing and discerning? What does each one actually feel like?
What would it look like to trust my own wisdom here — not as something I have to earn, but as something I already have?
Don't edit your answers. Don't make them pretty. That impulse to tidy up your own inner life is exactly what we're releasing right now.
