Embracing Evolution | The Next Chapter for Magick Makers

When I launched Magick Makers in February 2020, I held a vision of creating a brick-and-mortar haven for witches and the spiritually curious—a welcoming "third place" where community could gather, connect, and explore their magic together. Over these past five years, that vision has manifested in beautiful and unexpected ways: through seasonal markets that brought thousands to Durham, collaborations with incredible local businesses, and community gatherings that sparked genuine connection.

As many of you know, our most recent chapter included a beautiful collaboration with Rivtak and Observable Universe, creating a shared retail space that closed its doors at the end of February 2025. This closing marks not an ending, but a thoughtful pivot in Magick Makers' journey—one that honors both where we've been and where we're called to go next.

Honoring What's Been

The pop-up shops, markets, and in-person gatherings we've created have been tremendously successful by every measure. From the thousands who've attended our Solstice Markets to the intimate community spaces we've fostered at local breweries and venues, these experiences have built a foundation of connection that remains central to Magick Makers' purpose.

What I've learned through these experiences is invaluable: that magic thrives in genuine connection, that our community hungers for spaces where they can be fully seen and accepted, and that the work of creating these containers is deeply aligned with my purpose. These insights don't represent a closing chapter but rather essential wisdom that will guide our next evolution.

Expanding Our Reach

As I've considered where Magick Makers is called to grow next, I've recognized that focusing our energy on creating boundary-less spaces and resources allows us to serve our community in ways that transcend physical limitations.

This shift isn't about downsizing—it's about expansion. By focusing on our online community and educational offerings, we can:

  • Create accessibility for practitioners in rural areas without access to physical spiritual spaces

  • Serve those with different abilities and needs who may find in-person gatherings challenging

  • Build connections that cross geographical boundaries, bringing together kindred spirits from across the world

  • Offer more privacy and safety in uncertain times, creating containers where vulnerable exploration can flourish

  • Develop deeper, more comprehensive resources without the constraints of retail schedules and overhead

  • Create more accessible pricing structures, including expanded sliding scale offerings that make spiritual support available to more people

The Kindred Club has already shown us how powerful online community can be, and I'm excited to pour more energy into this thriving space while developing new ways to support your practice.

What's Coming Next

While our focus is shifting, our commitment to creating meaningful in-person experiences remains. Rather than maintaining a permanent physical space, we'll be partnering with select local collaborators to host seasonal gatherings that bring our community together in intentional ways. This approach allows us to create truly special experiences without the burnout that can come from maintaining a retail presence.

I'm also thrilled to announce several exciting initiatives that this evolution makes possible:

  • Coven Market Partnership: I'm joining forces with Witchology Magazine to reimagine the online witch marketplace. This collaboration brings together their publishing expertise with my background in marketing and community-building to create a platform connecting conscious consumers with independent spiritual entrepreneurs.

  • Expanded Educational Offerings: With more focus on our boundary-less presence, we'll be enhancing the resources, workshops, and mentorship opportunities available through Magick Makers, helping practitioners at all levels deepen their practice.

  • SPELLbook Summer Edition: Coming in May, the next edition of our beloved journal will bring fresh insights and guidance for the summer season.

  • The Guild Relaunch: This August, we'll be relaunching The Guild for Spirited Entrepreneurs, offering support for those building businesses aligned with their spiritual practice.

  • My First Book: I'm finally carving out the space to bring my first book into being—something that's been brewing for years and now has the room to manifest.

The Magic Continues

This evolution feels deeply aligned with the core of what Magick Makers has always been about: creating supportive containers for exploring magic, offering spiritual support, and helping others tap into their inner magic.

The physical manifestation may be shifting, but the heart of our work remains constant. Throughout this journey, I've learned that magic isn't confined to any particular space—it lives in connection, in practice, in the moments when we recognize our own power and potential.

I want to express my profound gratitude to everyone who has supported Magick Makers through its first five years, from those who've shopped our pop-ups to the thousands who've gathered at our markets to the intimate circle who've joined us online. You've helped shape this journey, and you remain at the center of whatever comes next.

As we embrace this evolution, I invite you to join us in whatever way feels aligned for you—whether in our online spaces, at our seasonal gatherings, or through the resources we create. Your magic is always welcome here.

With gratitude and excitement for the magic to come,
